Journal History

«Alteridad» is published for the first time in November 2005, as a Journal of the Faculty of Human Sciences and Education (FACHED), with the purpose of creating "a space for the academic and scientific production of FACHED and the generation of opinion on Social and educational issues ". The Board of Directors of the Faculty determined by the specific topic, and the Dean coordinated the edition together with the Abya-Yala Publishing House. The Editorial Board was unique to all the journals of the University. In July 2010, an Editorial Board was created specifically for Alteridad.

Concerned about the quality of the articles, in 2011 a process of improvement begins on the journal: a) the scope of its publications is delimited to the Education Area; b) the Editorial Board is renewed and expanded with teachers from the Education Area; c) Considering the arbitration of the articles constitutes one of the key processes to give quality to the articles, a Council of Reviewers (January-June 2012) is constituted.

In 2013, it is indexed in Journals of Higher Education and Educational Research (IRESIE), also in the Directory of Open Acces Journals (DOAJ). Entry to DOAJ has made it possible for articles published in Alteridad to appear automatically in the Catalogs of various Digital Libraries and search engines such as Google Scholar.

it also is indexed in Latindex. It is indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) form web of Science, LATINDEX catalog, Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, it belongs to the Ibero-American Network of Innovation and Scientific Knowledge, REDIB, Network of Scientific Journals of Latin America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, REDALYC, besides is part of the Information Matrix for the Analysis of Journals, MIAR and is being evaluated inand medium term to become part of important International Index SCOPUS.

At the beginning of  2015 (volume 10, number 1), the central theme is published in collaboration with experts on the subject, among the members of the Editorial Board. From the July-December period of that year, the editorial process is carried out through the OJS (Open Journal System) platform; And each of the articles is identified with a DOI (Digital Object Identifier System).
